Choose a word from Vocabulary Lesson 12. In at least one paragraph, define the word in your own words and explain where you encountered it. Describe how understanding this word helps improve your communication or writing skills.

One time, I was with my friends at the beach and we were swimming across a river with a current and I made it to the other side but my friend was stuck in the middle, and it looked like a maelstrom so he was getting terrified and I jumped in after him and swam to him and grabbed him and gave him the boogie board that I had brought across with me, so that he could float on it. Then he paddled out and made it to the other side with me. This word is a word that I have never heard before so I added it to my vocabulary and can use it normally now.
